Worldwide Cancer Research is an independent charity whose global aim is to save lives that are being lost to cancer by improving prevention, detection and treatment. Worldwide Cancer Research is the only charity dedicated to the worldwide fight against cancer. Since 1980, the charity has played a major role in funding ground breaking cancer research. At present they are funding over 215 cancer research projects in more than 23 countries.
Cancer is a condition that affects us all. I lost my mother to breast cancer at the age of two, and it has made a profound impact on my life. Over the years many of my friends and family have been diagnosed with various types of cancer. When a family member was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, I knew it was time to do my bit to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
Fighting cancer starts with you! By donating money to Worldwide Cancer Research, you will be directly assisting the ongoing fight to find a cure to cancer.
In mid-2014 the charity changed its name from The Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) to Worldwide Cancer Research. To find out more about the ongoing work of this charity please watch the AICR videos below, thanks!
While on the road I was able to visit four AICR funded labs in both Finland and Greece. My visit to The University of Patras in Greece can be watched below.
