With less than a couple months before my departure, last week I jumped on the bike for a final trial ride. The video shows my three day 150km cycle tour of the magnificent Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way. The route took in wild moors, gentle valley bottoms, rushing rivers and quaint farming villages. The ride was made even more beautiful by two picturesque stealth-camping spots; as well as the last of the winter snow melting on the hilltops.
The ride made me realise just how unfit I have become since my European tour last summer. Many of the hills along the Dales route had gradients of 12-25%, and I found myself spending most of the second morning pushing a fully laden bike up steep ascents! I now have just five weeks until I leave on the 31st of March, and as well as getting all my gear and research finalised I have realised just how much pain I will endure in the coming two years… bring it on!!!
